Josiah Henson

A freedom Seeker, escaped by way of the UGRR in 1830 with his wife and four very young children. He lectured widely on the evils of slavery and his published autobiography became the base for Harriet Breecher Stowes Uncle Tom's Cabin. He helped 1001 slaves to escape and founded a vocational school.

Harriet Tubman Doll

The MSHIMPI Collection of dolls is meant to tell the story of a legend. The story begins from the Bwana-Mkubwa area of Ndola district in Zambia. It is the story of a chief's daughter who was kidnapped at the age of twelve by slave traders, but manages to escape to freedom. Alone and far away, MSHIMPI sets on a quest to find her way back home to her parents. Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman was personally aided by the Underground Railroad to escape from slavery to Canada. She became a conductor of the Underground Railroad, made 19 trips to the Southern States and brought at least 312 Blacks from slavery to free Canada, despite a price on her head of $40,000 on her head. She was honored as "Black Moses".

I Believe in Angels Singing
