"Excellent ! Excellent ! I'm never going to forget the Freedom Train. As a matter of fact, when I came back to the building, I talked to a couple of colleagues and I said we need to do it as adults. That needs to be a field trip recommended as mandatory, or whatever - I believe the kids got so much out of it. Of course our guide (Motherland Connextions) was wonderful! For me it was my first time going through that and having to take all of that in. It made me want to do it again and my kids are still talking about the different places we stopped and different things like that."

That was a good culmination because they already had the background the downstairs library, seeing where the records were kept and using the computers at both libraries actually was very beneficial to them. I think they need the hands on out of this building experience."

" Each of the field trips we had were related tremendously to what we were doing. In particular, the Underground Railroad. I thought that was probably the best of all. I learned more on the Underground Railroad trip and I'm sure the kids did too. It was more of a hands-on trip. I think they got a little more out of that because maybe it was more non-academic - even though they did learn something - it was non-academic as opposed to the library trips."
